I was in a trailer, in the lifeless, desert flats of Toyah, Texas on the night of Wednesday, September 20th for work. I had just showered and hopped into the tiny trailer bed, and I was flipping thru potential matches in the “what if” section of my eHarmony profile. I came across the profile of Victoria, age 33, height 5’10”, ethnicity: other. I read her bio and thought, this woman is witty. All her photos had funny captions.

September 20, 2018, I received a “smile” on eHarmony from an American born, West African, 6’1″, 38-year-old. I concluded from his photos and education that he was probably a square with no social skills, so I ignored it.

The next day, I thought, “Ah, what the heck,” and smiled back. I got straight to the point about having chemistry in common, and he told me about an invention he was working on. I was immediately intrigued — a fellow aspiring inventor?! And . . . I was 100% wrong about his personality — he was HILARIOUS. I texted, “Are you this funny in real life?” and he snapped back, “This IS real life.”
